OVERVIEW OF RED MOON
Red Moon Conferences & Incentives provides an all-encompassing MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Events) service to the local corporate market. Founded in 2009 by Madelein Vasconcellos after spending 18 years in the industry, both locally and overseas looking, seeing, tasting, doing, experiencing and learning about the ever changing dynamics of the wonderful world of events.
Today, Red Moon is regarded as one of the most dynamic MICE companies in the South African market putting together experiences for the corporate market that go Above and Beyond. The experience gained whilst creating and managing a vast variety of events has led to Red Moon attracting a reputation of a superior and above average service provider in the market. This reputation was earned from a high level of service, combined with creativity, passion, logistical management and collective years of experience.
ABOUT THE DIRECTORS
Born in KwaZulu Natal, Madelein finished school in 1988 in Durban. She commenced her working career in the Car Rental industry and worked her way through the ranks to become the youngest Branch Manager at the age of 21. In 1991 she joined a Tour Operator and during 1993, the core business of the Tour Operator changed to MICE and Madelein was enthusiastic to be part of one of the founding companies of this industry in South Africa. She formed part of a team who commenced the negotiations and growth of the MICE industry for International Corporates travelling to South Africa. Madelein gained 11 years of experience before moving to Gauteng to assist in the growth and manage that company’s local corporate MICE business. Madelein started a family in 2005, after which she was approached by a Pretoria based company to assist in growing their MICE business. She wrote a training module for MICE and provided training at the same time.
In 2007, it was time for a break from the MICE industry and Madelein enjoyed growing a small guest house into a thriving business but during 2009 it was time to move on. Madelein decided that MICE is what she knows and Red Moon was born!
Born in the Free State, Gideo finished high school at Grey College in 2001. Upon returning from his gap year Gideo enrolled at the University of Pretoria for a degree in Tourism Management while exploring what Southern Africa has to offer.
Gideo completed his BCom Tourism (Hons) from the University of Pretoria in 2006. Having worked in the USA and Brazil during that time it was decided that the travel side of the industry was made for him. Gideo started off his career on the wholesale side of the tourism industry working for an operator and then moved over into MICE to gain more experience.
In 2011 Gideo decided to take a new direction in his career and joined Madelein at Red Moon to add some experience, creativity and grow the business. Gideo has always had a keen passion for adventure, nature and exploration. His hobbies such as fly fishing, kayaking, off road driving and diving has melted into his everyday life and he considers himself one of the very few fortunate people that live his passions in his everyday work life.
